CNC Milling Services
APY CNC produces custom CNC milled parts from your drawings — including flat surfaces, pockets, holes, slots and complex geometries. Milling configurations are selected according to the part geometry and agreed specifications.
CNC Milling Overview
CNC milling is a subtractive process in which a rotating cutting tool removes material from a stationary or indexed workpiece. It is well suited to prismatic parts and components with features on multiple faces, such as enclosures, brackets, plates and fixtures.
We machine parts according to your 3D model or technical drawing, selecting tooling, fixturing and axis configuration to match the geometry and quality requirements. Tolerances and achievable features are evaluated per project.
3-Axis, 4-Axis and 5-Axis Machining
Different axis counts cover different machining ranges — configured according to actual capability.
3-Axis Milling
Machining across X, Y and Z for planes, pockets, holes and slots. Suitable for most prismatic parts.
4-Axis Milling
Adds a rotary axis for features around a cylinder or on multiple indexed faces, reducing setups.
5-Axis Milling
Two rotary axes for complex contours and angled features in fewer setups, subject to equipment and engineering review.
The available axis configurations and the working envelope of each machine are determined by the factory's actual equipment. Please share your drawing so we can select the appropriate setup.
Typical Milled Parts
Common feature types produced by CNC milling on custom components.

Flat Surfaces & Plates
Reference faces, mounting plates and base components with controlled flatness.

Pockets & Cavities
Enclosures and bodies with internal pockets, ribs and wall features.

Holes & Bores
Positioned holes, reamed bores and threaded features to drawing.

Slots & Profiles
Keyways, grooves and contoured profiles on custom parts.

Complex Geometry
Multi-face and contoured parts where multi-axis setup reduces handling.

Custom Components
Project-specific parts evaluated against your drawings and application.
Compatible Materials
Material selection is matched to your design, mechanical requirements and application.
Aluminum
6061-T6, 7075-T6 and other grades per drawing.
DetailsStainless Steel
304, 316, 17-4 PH and similar grades.
DetailsBrass
C360 and specified brass alloys.
DetailsCarbon & Alloy Steel
Grade follows your drawing and required properties.
DetailsCopper
C110 and other grades per availability.
DetailsEngineering Plastics
POM, PA, PEEK where machinable.
DetailsGrade examples do not imply all grades are stocked. Actual material availability and machining scope are confirmed per project.
Part Geometry and Machining Considerations
Geometry affects both feasibility and cost. When preparing your inquiry, the following points help us evaluate the part accurately:
- Feature accessibility — deep pockets, undercuts and internal features may require specific tooling or axis configurations.
- Wall thickness — very thin walls can be harder to hold within tolerance and may need process adjustments.
- Tolerances — tighter tolerances on more features increase inspection and setup effort.
- Tool access — smaller radii and recessed areas constrain tool selection.
We review these factors during engineering review and suggest adjustments where they improve manufacturability, without changing your design intent.
Dimensional Requirements
Dimensional capability — including maximum part size and achievable feature scales — is configured by the factory and evaluated against the actual equipment. We do not publish fixed numbers; instead, achievable dimensions are confirmed per drawing and project.
For quotation, please provide dimensions per your drawing or specification. Our engineering review confirms whether the part fits within the available working envelope and process plan.
Surface Finishing
Finishing selected according to material, appearance and functional requirements.
Anodizing
Protective and decorative oxide layer for aluminum.
DetailsBead Blasting
Uniform matte surface that reduces tool marks.
DetailsPolishing
Smooth, bright surfaces for cosmetic areas.
DetailsPassivation
Corrosion resistance for stainless steel.
DetailsPlating
Zinc, nickel or other platings per requirement.
DetailsAll Finishes

DetailsNot every finish suits every material. Finishing is evaluated against your drawing, color, film thickness, roughness and acceptance criteria.
Quality Inspection
Inspection activities planned around your critical features and requirements.
- Incoming Material Verification — material identification and incoming checks as applicable.
- In-Process Inspection — checking critical dimensions during production when required.
- Final Inspection — dimensional and visual checks against agreed specifications.
- Inspection Documentation — reports may be provided when agreed for the project.
